    Default Exploding targets!!

The stuff is called Tannerite commercially and is $16 a pound. I know the raw chemicals needed to make it and can make it for $4 a pound. I need to make 50 lbs though because the main chemical is only sold in bulk. So if anyone wants 5 or 10 pounds to play with, I'll bring it to CA on the 20th of next month.

    The low down:
*50 state legal! Yes that includes CA. Legal to make, buy, sell, store, use, you name it.
*Requires a rifle round to detonate. Pistol, shotgun, and rim fire (like the .22 or .17) won't do it. 5.56/ .223, 7.62/ .308, .243, any hunting round will. Anything that's a center fire rifle cartridge will set it off.
*Binary Explosive. That means that two non-explosive agents are combined to make an explosive agent. You mix the two powders together when you want to shoot them so it's safe to store the two anywhere.
*There's no shrapnel or anything so they're pretty safe.
*You can mix as much together as you want and the more you mix, the bigger the explosion. I DO NOT recommend putting it in metal containers. They throw shrapnel 150yards out and can take people and vehicles apart. Just leave it in plastic.

Here's a little video of small, half-pound containers that my army buddies and I shot. The camera phone doesn't capture the deafening BOOM or the concussion wave but the stuff is pretty impressive. http://www.winross.addr.com/upload/u...tannerite_.3g2
You need the K-lite codec to play this in real player or Quick Time 6.5 or newer.

so 10 pounds would be $40 from you?

How much do you use for a single target (usually) let's say pint cartons (like milk)

Me and pop could have fun with these and the hand cannon (Thompson Contender .45-70 pistol :D )

Yup, 10 pounds would be $40. You can go down to 1/2 pound so you could get 20 impressive targets out of 10 pounds. Any smaller and they might not reliably detonate every time but you can experiment. Some guys have had success with using 35mm film canisters but others claim they don't detonate every time. If you fill milk jugs with this stuff (2-3 pounds) you'll have one massive explosion. Just make sure you're at least 100 yards away from something that size. It basically vaporizes the plastic container so theirs no shrapnel but something that size will make a crater and throw that dirt and rock in all directions.

I put 1 pound of this stuff on a 2' diameter stump that stood about 5' off the ground and it cut it down to 2'. Fun stuff :D

    Here's a vid I found of 1.25 pounds that cuts down a tree :D http://members.cox.net/~crapspam/1.2target.wmv

That's sweet. I'll take 10 pounds of it off your hands.

Ok, I my online source for ammonium nitrate called to tell me it would be here after I leave for CA so I cancelled the order. Anyone know where I can get farm grade or technical grade ammonium nitrate in or around Sacramento?
