    Default I got my car!

So, been lusting after one since I almost bought a '97 spyder back in '00 (long story short - the dealer said they'd get me a loan, and failed) finally got one on friday...

Sooo if anybody has any GSX parts they don't need, I need -

Rear decklid (unless I can get this one straightened out... dunno though)
    EPROM ecu (it's a '95, but it's not eprom)
Turbo (I'm thinking I may just buy a new EvoIII though)
exhaust (I have a downpipe and 2.5" cat in boxes in the back seat)
Intercooler and piping (probably will just get a new FMIC and piping)
    Fuel injectors
Guages (I guess he had aftermarket guages? *shrugs* anywho, they're not there)
Header/exhuast manifold (whichever I can get at a good price)

Here's some pictures of the car from the guy I got it from - http://www.shockleyperformance.com/DSMlink/

I took some pictures, but am lackin the USB cable for my camera at the moment, so I'll get them up as soon as I can. Soo... the car cost me 2 grand, and I had to drive to fresno to pick it up... but it came with the following already installed

    95 ECU (not eprom)
    Walbro 255 in-tank pump
CD & Tape & Radio Head unit (just the stocker)
    Centerforce DF (2500lb) Clutch
    RRE Lightened Fly Wheel (14lbs)
    SS Clutch Resivior Bypass Line
    SS Brake Lines
Slotted Rotors & Semi-Metalic Pads (Front & Rear)
    4-Way GAB Struts
    Rear Camber Kit
    Eibach Pro Kit Springs
    Prothane Motor Mounts
Rota Slipstream 16x7 Rims (Bronze Color) 13.5 Pounds Each
    w/ Yokohama 225/55 WR16
Fluidyne radiator with dual offset fans (one push, the other pull)

So I'd say I got a pretty good deal, whatcha think?

Cost? Many hours with a hammer and a torch! You can see in the pictures I have to move the sheetmetal back about 10-12" on the passenger side, but it looks like it was hit high, as I've pulled all the plastic and the frame is untouched, the bumper is where it's supposed to be, so I just have a lot of sheetmetal work.

If you know how to do all the repair work yourself, then yeah i would say it was a good deal. Just reminds me how I got raped on my 9k 97 fwd.

You didn't get raped that bed... that's what I was going to pay for mine back in '00... see I went to John L Sullivan (they suck) to help my friend find a car, and while I was there I saw a '97 spyder gst... so I too it for a drive, and wanted it... but the salesman said they wanted 17k... I told him he was out of his fucking mind and left... but I really wanted the car, so I went home and bluebooked it... came out to about 8500-11000 depending on private party or dealer... so I took that info and headed back out there... mind you the brace that supports the middle bar on the roof was bent, so you couldn't actually open the top all the way, and the display on the radio was shot so unless you had CD's you were also guessing what you were listening to... I countered them with 8500, and ended up coming out the door near 9500 after an hour or two, and them insisting they could get me a loan...

three weeks later they're calling me up telling me that they can't get me a loan, and I need to bring the car back and find something with less miles on it (it had over 100k)

Soo, I took it back, and dropped it off with an additional 2500 miles on it (I drove the hell out of it for those 3 weeks) and let them try to sell it again... * shrugs* been lusting after an eclipse ever since... I just happened apon this one in hopes of an AWD spyder, but until I find a spyder cheap enough, I'll be fixing the body damage and making myself a running gsx

As far as knowing how to do the work...it's really not as hard as some make it out to be, and when you see how much bent metal there is on the back of my car, you don't even really worry about fucking something up, which is always been my fear with body work, didn't want to hammer it out, just in case I made it worse, but on this car, that's not an issue... and the car's up at my dad's house, so I've access to all his body tools, and when in doubt I can pick his brain :D[/list]

ive seen 95-96 awd's go for $3000 up here with less than 100,000 miles. you need a lot of bodywork on that car. i would just cut that panel out and weld a new one in. i wouldnt have paid more than $1200 for that.

If I can find the back end at a junkyard that's exactly what I might do, but once I got all the plastics off, it doesn't look nearly as bad, just got to pull the metal out... And where's up here? I been looking all over for one of these.

I would also like to point out all the aftermarket goodies I got with the car... I don't have to install a clutch (I don't care how easy it may or may not be, I don't care to drop FWD trannies if I can avoid it, esp after dropping the tranny on my daytona three times just to get the flexplate installed) I don't have to put a fuel pump in, the coilovers and springs are already installed... all I have to do is some bodywork and bolt on a couple externals in the engine... *shrugs* I've been looking for a nice 2g for over a year and a half now, and this is the closest and cheapest I've found one for, looking on ebay, dsmtrader, dsmtuners, autotrader and cars.com... I found an RS at Triple Crown for $3995  sooo not wanting a 420a with rear drum brakes

Yea, kinda put me off, mainly cause my dad said something similar, course, he things a good deal is like $100 for a running car... and I've had my share of those(got a Gremlin for a case of soda and pack of smokes), but they weren't AWD, didn't really run well, and looked like shit... Now that I got that ugly spoiler off, if you stand in front of my car you can't even tell it was hit, so I figure that's a good start :)

Reno eh... hmm... just around town, or in the papers, or ? Cause I been looking high and low, I found a TSI AWD in Oregon with a 6bolt (not installed) and no transmission for $2000 right after I put my down payment on this car, but other than that I haven't found anything closer than texas even remotely cheap... but hell Reno's like an hour and a half drive compared to the almost 4 hours to fresno... *shrugs* oh well...
