    Default Wideband 02

Ok since I am such an AWESOME mechanic when Lee and I were installing my Exhaust we just cut the second 02 sensor right the hell off of the harness because well, it dosent do a damn thing once DSMlink gets involved.

My question is can I use the 2nd 02 harness to feed the wideband input into dsmlink? I think it would be a good input to use with minimal rewiring.

Also just a handicapped bench racer question, WB has to go in before the cat correct? Do i need to make a new bung for it or can i use the 1v out to the front 02 sensor input and the 5v out to the second 02 sensor input?

    Yes.

I think there is some confusion here. The actual WB sensor needs to be placed upstream from the cat. Most WB kits also include a controller for the sensor. The controller is what will have the outputs that will need to be wired into ECU inputs. If the controller has a narrowband output in addition to a wideband output, you can put the WB sensor in the O2 housing, wire the narrowband output from the WB controller into the front O2 input and the wideband output into the rear O2 input. If the controller does not have a narrowband output, you need to keep your existing O2 sensor in place, add a bung prior to the cat, and then wire the wideband output into the rear O2 input (or other 0-5v input such as the MDP).

If you're only installing the WB02 for tuning sessions, then taking the sensor back out you can put the WB02 sensor in the front O2 bung. If you leave it in the front position the sensor will die pretty quickly from the high temps right after the turbo. I read a lot of complaints that the simulated narrow band signal doesn't work half the time also.

If you ditch the cat, that rear O2 should come out pretty easily. Since we broke the top of the sensor off, you can use a deep socket rather than an O2 socket to get it out.

depends on what's where the cat should be... if there's just a pipe, you prolly get ticket... however if there's a cat with no guts in it...

The heat shields or the pipe?

just get a resonator... it looks sorta like a cat. Otherwise you'll have to have someone weld a couple heat shields to a pipe, heat shields being pieces of sheet metal bent and cut to fit together.

I know summit used to have them. Beyond them, I'd just say take an old cat and grind off the heat shields.
