Default Does any1 vent without maft?

Hey im wondering if any of u guys vent your bov with out maft? My friend just bought his white 95-96 gsx a month ago and he put a hks SSQ bov and the wierd part is that it RUNS PERFECTLY fine. I know it may run on rich on fuel but the car is OKAY meaning no stalling or such. Im thinking about getting a HKS SSQ bov too but my car is a 98 and was wondering if any1 of u guys run your car vented or knows any1 who runs their car vented without maft. I dont wanna head down the MAFT route anymore because of how much it cost just for having that sound. Any help b4 i make a mistake

Are you sure about that Alex? Vietpunk, there are other benefits from a GM MAF setup then just being able to vent your BOV.

I ran my Apex dual chamber without the MAFT when I first bought my car 2 years ago and it ran like SHIT. Stalled out when the rpms came down to fast after coming off throttle and whenever I closed the throttle enough to activate the bov, the car would bog really bad. And it was adjusted right too. :(

Some people have good luck with it, some people don't. Venting gets kind of anoying sometimes, the only reason I do it is because my intake doesn't have a recirc thing. It's fun sometimes too though :P

odd, im venting with my apex twin chamber, i have it tightened all the way and have no problems except the obvious rich in shifts, but the only reason im venting is cause i plan on going maft as soon as i can and there is no way to recirc the apex

I have been venting since I got my car and have had no problems. a little rich between shifts.. otherwise that nothing. I have used the HKS SSQ, GReddy Type-S, 1G and currently Turbo XS BOV's and have never had trouble. I hate the GReddy Type-S though but thats another story. Stick with the HKS, those are nice BOV's

Yeah, what Lee said, some people get lucky when venting and their car doesn't trip out. But I've seen alot of 1g guys trying to vent their stock bov's and had bad experiances. I'm running a turbo xs type h and so far so good. But gotta agree with 1badtsi as well, you do get the rich shifts. And Silver98gst is correct too, many benefits from running GM Maft, don't think that it's sole purpose is for venting.

Yup I got the hks and that was the only problem i had when i cam to a sudden stop and let the rpms drop the car would die, so I used to just tap the gas before the rpms hit 1k and it wouldn't die, but the hks sounds so nice.

Yeah thanks u guys. Right now i have around 500$ to spend on whatever and im thinking of a custom catback... sorry i cannot get a full turbo back just yet. The shop estimated me around 350-400 for a full mandrel bent catback. I think he's trying to rip me off. I dont know what to do just yet. maybe i should go look around first. My other option is to get the HKS SSQ bov and attatch that to my L pipe thats flanged for 1g dsm. luckily dejontool makes a flange that attatches hks to 1g. In addition to the hks bov il also get a cheap chrome intake to replace stock rubber. So either a catback or hks w/ intake.

Decideing to go with bov and intake. I orderd the Hks to 1g dsm bov flange from dejontool and was wondering how the f*** u install a hks bov? lol they dont even have bolts or screws. Well im not gonna buy a HKS SSQ yet because im gonna test it out with my friends bov. Is this all i need to install the bov or do i need some superglue?
