A more discriptive question might get you more responces. Do you mean were the BS gear used to be (left of the crank), or were the stubby shaft is installed (right of the crank) ? because the left hole should be plugged with a bolt and a washer and if it came loose it will leak oil. If the stubby shaft area is leaking that is bad news cause it is the oil pump drive shaft seal leaking .
I hope you didnt do a balance shaft eliminator without installing a new front case / oil pump.

??? A new front cover, oil pump, and gears are big bucks. Why would you replace them if not doing a rebuild and they all look good ? I have done 2 BSEK's while doing T-belts and inspected every thing then reassembled. Is that wrong ? I have never heard that you have to replace the whole front of the engine to do a BSEK.
The whole front of the engine???
the front case / oil pump is dirt cheap... If you already are pulling everythign apart to do a bsek why would you re-use it? Plus oil leaking onto the timing belt is one of the biggest causes of timing belt failures..
I dunno.. Time is money for me.. By the time you waste another half day doing another timing job to fix the leak the case would have already paid for itself..

There is no reason to just go replacing parts that don't need to be replaced.
On the 2 or 3 BSE's I did, I just checked the overall condition of the case. Make sure there is no abnormal wear on the gears/case or grooves from the the gears rubbing the case. If all is OK, put it back on.
If it wasn't leaking before, and you put it back together correctly, there should not be any problems.

Thats partly the reason why my dsm didnt leak a drop. Replacing parts that were past their prime instead of re-using.. Front case is a whopping 170 bucks.... For the time it takes to keep yanking the timing belt to fix up leaks / peace of mind that your belt isnt getting oiled down, its worth it to me..
