Default Dirty's How To's Oil Pan Sealing

    Here ya go!

I have sealed HUNDREDS of pans like this

Mitsu does not use a gasket, why should you??

    Step #1 CLEAN THE PAN!!!!

Step #2 Get the correct sealant!!

Step #3 Apply a 1/4" bead EVENLY all the way around the rail going to the INSIDE of the bolt holes

    Step #4 CLEAN BLOCK RAILS!!
Set pan on to block hand tighten bolts, then tighten with wrench to 10ftlbs

Let it sit an hour or so before adding oil, then go rip it and check for leaks!

I figured it would be, I just haven't done it yet, cause I have a bunch of other things to put on the car still, and I figured once he started working on the maft, he'd see all the other things my car needs deghettofied so that I can actually start it, and yea...

Excellent write up. I was wondering why the F my pan was leaking and it may just possibly be the half ass paper gasket that I got with the new block. I hadn't ever remembered using one on my old 70's POS cars.
