    Default question for old dirty

i finally got my block back, she looks pretty sweet. the only thing is i need to remove the main bearing cap to install an mb cad kit. i read somewhere that i should torque these to 55in lb but finger tight them until th ehead is torqued down and itll be even better if i put the engine in the car and pushed the clutch before torquing the main bearing cap. also is there a sequence to that ot can i just put it on and torque it. i have all arp hardware.

    thanx bro

Hmm, who told you to do this???

drop the crank in, torque the caps to ARP's specs, then give the but of the crank a firm tap with a hammer to seat the thrust bearing, now don't wind up and break the thing, just put a piece of aluminum on it as not to mar it up.

    then install the rods,
get the lower end built and then do the top end with all the tbelt.

AND MAKE SURE YOU KNOW THE RIGHT WAY TO SET UP YOUR TIMING BELT!!!!!!!!!!!

Or it will make it about 50 miles and slip and then its YARDSALE time!!! piston and valve pieces all over the front yard

the block is put together, i had to remove the main cap to install the mbcad kit. my builder ha sthe arp specs and hes noit around yet. i put it together and torques my arp to factory specs which were 18ft pounds with a 90 degree turn after that in the sequence the chiltons manual called for. id still like to get the torque specs arp calls for. oh and the timing stuff, im not gonna do,im shipping the car to sacramento to have the timing done and tuning cause i aint gonna screw it up haha.
