    Default BOV-yes or no?

Okay guys. here's one that I am sure has been answered before, but I have missed the thread on it. I am looking to upgrade my BOV. (finally got the injectors, pump and regulator squared away) I've been looking around for a BOV (mostly ebay, and mostly because I don't want to spend ridiculous cash on a BOV) but the ones I am seeing do not say whether they are recirc or not. Does the BOV HAVE to be recirculatory or can I just block off the tube to avoid air leaks and run it to open atmosphere. I have a boost controller, but it is useless without the adjustable BOV. Please someone help. Thanks again.

you can run it to the atmosphere, but you'll run rich between shifts... not going to kill your car, but I wouldn't.

its a general good idea to recirculate the bov. when it's vented the car will run rich in between shifts and sometimes when you push the clutch in the car will die due to the lack of air that the ECU was expecting. what kind of bovs are you looking at?

    Default BOV

I am looking at the Greddy RS style BOV. It looks like it could be recirculated, but I don't know. I just want something that will allow me to boost up to 18 but adjust back down to 13-14 for everyday driving. and I will admit, I want that loud blowoff noise.

The only bov's that DON'T recirculate are the Turbo XS Type S/H/RFL, TiAL and the Blitz ( I believe).

The loud bov sound usually comes with venting and high amounts of boost.

You can vent but like stated before it will run rich between shifts. Any aftermarket bov can take up to 18 PSI.

Most people and there mom's go with the GReddy Type-S.

Like Jonathan said the 1G bov is gonna be the cheapest option.

The GReddy Type-RS can be recirculated and you will want to buy this one if you get it and they have an option to add the recirculation kit because the normal ones don't.

Comes with everything necessary to recirculate.

Ohhhh and NEVER get a bov, especially on ebay that has the word STYLE in the auction. it's crap.

that and the BOV isn't used to adjust boost :) unless i'm misinterpreting what you were saying.
you need a boost controller for that.

    Default BOV

No, The boost controller I know is used to control how much boost you are pushing. But the BOV is adjusted to a certain boost as well, so if you try to boost up past 15 psi the BOV bleeds off the pressure. so I need to be able to adjust the pressure of the BOV to compensate.

Buy a nice blow off valve speaker kit......for that wooosh!!! its SICK!!

I had a honda guy buy a 1g valve from me and brought it back a day later saying it did'nt work!!??
Umm what did not work about it ( as I pull vacuum on it and it holds)
"I put it on and it does not make the boost noise"

Ok let me guess you put it on a honda...... "Yea how'd ya know"

    Umm just a guess

    here's your money back

"well I want a good one"

Well come see me when you actually have a turbo on your car that makes the boost presure to flow through that valve to "make the boost sound"
