    Default 1g bottom block

what is the differences between the 1g and 2g bottom bolck motor pirnt? are they both 4g63 prints or is one of the other different?? reason i ask is becuase i really want to build a 1g block and mount it to all my 2g parts and keep all the emission parts. the reason i ask is because i live in california and smog is a biiatch. i just recently had to go to a test only center. which is a alot different than a regular smog. when i went to the test center they ran tests on all my sensors, timming, and check for mods, motor print, catalic converter evrything. they were even tripping about my hks turbo timmer. they didnt want to smog it and told me to go home and take it off first before they can even do anything. i was lucky i told them it was a radar detector and the bought it. i would just love to put in a 1g bottom end and pass the test only. so if there is not any difference in motor print ill like to know from the guys who knows so i can start to build or actually just get one from sbr. hopefully it will work

6bolt bottom has a lower compression set then a 7bolt 2g block. I think its 7.9:1 rather then the 2g's 8.5:1. Also, the 6bolt requires the use of a different crank and camshaft sensor. So if you don't feel comfortable with adjustable timing and how it effects your fuel trims, I say either learn or don't do it at all, especially if this is your daily driver. Else, a 6bolt block is a good upgrade from the crankwalking, high compression 7bolt. You could also throw in a set of stronger 95 pistons on the 1g rods and have a really solid setup for up to almost 450hp. Good luck with your decission.
