    Default 1990 1g CAS in a 1997 2g 7bolt with EPROM

anybody ever done this before? from what i can tell off of this schematic, it doesn't look too hard.

You don't need an eprom to run a 1g cas on a 2g. Just rewire it according to this:

But as I've told others, there is no ground on a 2g to set timing correctly. The simplest way to set timing on a 1g cas in a 2g is to pull the engine fuse. Then turn the motor as someone checks the timing. But if you have an EPROM anyway, might as well use your DSMlink to control your timing advance/retard.

i have an EPROM because i run DSMLink :)

was just wondering because on the Magnus site, it specified for specific ECU's, but it didn't mention the EPROM at all.

    thanks Manny.

now if i can just follow that diagram. haha

because i'm too lazy to take off my timing belt cover (that and i can't get all the bolts...) plus everyone says that going with the 1g CAS is better because of the tuning of the base timing up top instead of how the 2g CAS is.

You don't need to mess with the CAS for timing, you have DSMLink

    i know :)

i'm just going to leave it at normal settings on the CAS. it'll be easier to install than pulling off my timing belt cover and trying to snake the 2g one down there. unless someone knows an easy way to take the timing belt cover off and is willing to share and/or do it. :D

It shouldn't be very difficult at all...you dont have your accessory belts on yet anyways. Just gotta take off the crank pully, unbolt the cover, slide it down. If I remember correctly....

yea i got it half way done last night. my back was hurting really bad after a while and so i called it a night.
i decided to give it a shot since i didn't feel like wiring up the 1g CAS and i keep hearing horror stories about them on the 7 bolt.
