Default Old Dirty's 1g Anal Retentive Build Up

Ok so I picked up a 90' Talon AWD, 5 speed, NO ABS, No Sunroof, No leather, California car
    It came with
Wasted engine, still ran, I pulled it appart and was rescently rebuilt but as I suspected the crank was ground .020" and they put .010" bearing in the rods......oops .013" oil clearance is a little much!!

The car over all is clean, no rust, never hit, original paint, interior is 90% perfect I ordered NEW a few trim panels and covers that were dry rotted from the sun. as well as all new weather stripping for the door sils and window trim.
I have a new engine harness that is going in when the engine is out.
The car also came with a almost new ACT 2600lb clutch,
A full Buschur Racing 2.5" Mandrel Bent Stainless Exhaust! (nice!!)
New tires, getting tossed for a set of drag radials
Factory white wheels, getting tossed for a set of Blitz Type 01's.....what are those you say.....discontinued ten years ago, 17x8 three piece
and No you can't buy them off of me HAHA

Rear black spoiler and roof getting painted white,

My "one off" brackets for the 3kgt VR-4 calipers to the 1g's knuckles are coming back into production
VPC and AFC I have sitting around are going on, as well as.....wait......a 20g!!!!!
Engine is not going to to be too crazy just a factory spec balanced 2.0l crank, shot peened and balanced rods with the small end being bushed to accept a full floating pin, coated 2g pistons, Hastings file fit race rings, Clevite 77 bearings,
I'm going to do a little head porting, its been a while but have access to a flow bench so what the heck.
super tec valves springs and retainers, and some hk$ bumpies. as well as SOLID LIFTERS!!
    and a steel gasket.
EVO 8 I/C with hand built piping powder coated black of course and a few other goodies.

    Pics to come!

Yea I picked it up on Saturday afternoon! nice car!!
I can't wait to get back in it after being out for a while seing all this new stuff thats available, and different setups people are running, heck Shep is knocking on 7 seconds in a FULL UNIBODY CAR!!! I remember an old issue of Turbo with David Buschurs Yellow RWD 92 Talon he used to run in the IDRC and they had the top 10 fastest DSM's It went like this
BUschur 9.90 Tym Switzer 10.80 John Shepard, 10.98, Mark Hallman 11.10, Bret Rau 11.40 John Shepard (in a red 92) 11.65 Todd Chimpiriano 11.70 (what ever happend to that guy??) Jeff Hill 11.80 and so on but look at how far all of those people have come in the last 10 years! Hallman Boost Contolers!!, Buschur, Switzer Performance Innovation, Shep Racing, Jeff Hill-Turbo Trix!
The thing is it still seems the same around here, lots of talkin' and not a lot of walkin'
Like when was the last post about someone going out to Sacraceway and actually running a desent time (sub 13 second)
I know that the only other person on here that goes to any type of track on a regular basis is Damon and he drives an EVO and is also strictly road course (which IS more fun)
I am going to scan a bunch of pics and time slips of my old black Talon from 96'-99' when I had it, man thats a long time ago.
So lets see about getting a group of people together on a Saturday afternoon and go to Sacraceway.

Don't you mean lot's of talkin' and lots of crank walkin'? :D But you do bring up a good point. We have a huge amount of readers and members now, compared to last year, and yet everytime I went to the track and invited people to run, I found myself preping by myself and 4 onlookers from the group. And I have yet to see a 2g run a sub 13 second at sacraceway, fwd OR awd. It's not that impressive to see my car run 12's since the internet is FILLED with videos of 1g's breaking 11's and 10's. "Ooo, another 12 sec Saturn. Big deal." Get your Aunt Matilda ass's out on the track! 98% of you on here are 2g's. 96% of that are fwd's. 50% of that are fwd's with HUGE setups. I think our track days should be as big as our Dyno days. I get at least 12 people interested in a Dyno, but 100 people that SAY they are going to track and only 2 people show up to watch. /vent.

Hey now, i ran a 12.71@117 my first time to the track out here on street tires. Not impressive but it is sub 13. Obviously shitty driving with a 2.3 60 and shitty ET vs trap but it was the first time I'd ever been to the track in this car (and last so far lol). Maybe I don't count anymore since I bailed on the CA scene :)
